Puff Puff recipe

Hey Friends, today is all about Puff-puff. Puff-puff is a deep fried snack -always present in Nigerian parties and so delicious and addicting!! If you’re trying to lose weight like me please eat with caution because you can finish ten in one sitting! 😂 It’s that good and very easy to make. I never really liked making puff because I did not know how to make it round- still not perfected it but it’s better than it was before. A hack I found is you can use a measuring table spoon (1 tablespoon is perfect) to scoop the batter into hot oil to fry, dip the spoon in oil before scooping the batter as it makes scooping the batter into the oil easier. For this recipe I decided to add vanilla extract - although it’s totally optional, you should absolutely give it a try! Without further ado, let’s get down to business.

You will need:

2 cups all purpose flour

8g fast action yeast (1 tablespoon)

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup Evaporated milk

1 cup lukewarm water

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

Vegetable Oil for frying

Directions

  1. Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl

  2. Add milk, lukewarm water, vanilla extract and mix with a hand whisk or clean hands until smooth.

  3. Cover bowl with cling film or clean towel and place in a warm place to rise. Usually puff puff should rise between 45minutes to 1 hour (Might take longer if it’s not kept in a warm place- also make sure your yeast is not expired)

  4. Once batter is risen- scoop batter with hands or tablespoon and fry in oil

  5. Fry until golden brown

  6. Puff puff is ready! Sprinkle extra sugar on it if you want more.

cover with cling film and keep to rise in a warm place - a warm oven will work. WARM NOT HOT
