Grilled Crispy Chicken Wings

Hi Friends,

I cannot believe it’s been four months since the last blog post! Well there was a good reason this time for the hiatus 😀 your girl became a MUM! Yeapp it’s been four months of motherhood and it’s been an interesting journey and I am thankful for the privilege.

Now back to the real reason you are here 😉 this recipe! Grilled Crispy Chicken Wings. As expected this mama is trying to lose weight and cannot afford to eat lots of deep fried food. My waist line (I don’t even know if there is one right now 🤣) can’t afford it, so what do you do when you want to eat crispy chicken wings?GRILL IT!

This chicken wings was so good & the DIP I made with it? AHh-MAZING!! Next time you’re having a movie night or having friends over show off with this recipe!

Without wasting too much time, let’s get down to what you need to make this

You will need:

For the marinade:

1.3kg Chicken wings

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1 small bouillon cube (Knorr or maggi)

1 teaspoon of salt

1/2 cup of yoghurt

For the flour coating

2-3 eggs

1.5 cups Panko (Bread crumbs)

1 cup flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1-2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon white pepper

1/2 teaspoon cayenne/dry red pepper

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Direction

  1. in a bowl, place clean chicken wings, add in marinade ingredients listed above and mix them all together. Set aside in the fridge and let it marinate for an hour or overnight. (depending on how much time you have).

  2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Farenheit

  3. On a baking pan, pour in the Panko/breadcrumbs and bake in the oven for 2-3mins or till its golden. Keep an eye on this it’s burns quickly.

  4. Bring out marinated chicken and pour in beaten eggs and stir in until chicken is coated with eggs.

  5. In a separate bowl pour in flour, roasted panko, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, white pepper, salt, black pepper, paprika, cayenne/dry pepper and stir together

  6. Take one chicken wing at a time from the egg mixture and dip into flour-breadcrumb mixture till it is well coated -(see picture below to see what I am talking about).

  7. You need a grill sheet/rack so that the oven temperature circulates evenly making the wings crispy and not soggy from chicken juice. Remember Hot oven = Crispy wings!

  8. Get a cooking oil spray and spray the wings before placing it in the oven, makes it golden & crispy. You can also repeat this step halfway through the cooking time.

  9. Grill wings for about 50minutes to an hour or until chicken is brown and golden.

  10. Once it’s ready get this home-made DIP & munch away! These wings taste even more delicious with the dip!

Try it & let me know how you enjoyed it, I hope you enjoy it as much as my family and I did!

Till the next recipe..x

A baking sheet or rack like this for even heat distribution in the oven. Also to avoid wings becoming soggy from releasing its own juice.
